A career choice made in the teens often affects the rest of people's lives. Careers Partnership (UK) offers an intensive, one to one guidance programme of career exploration, information and advice for your teenager, helping young people make the choice of degree and career most likely to fulfil their personal ambitions.
Your teenager will find it much easier to work energetically towards their targets (eg further and higher education qualifications or jobs with prospects) when they have received good career information and advice and are confident they have made the right choice about their future.
The career information and advice programme includes any necessary advice on effective study and guidance on revision techniques. Our advice offers ways of overcoming potential difficulties (eg apprenticeships are sometimes presented as the trouble-free career choice for an ambitious teenager who does not want to continue studying - this is not always true).
We provide an unbiased "reality check" to warn the teenager against career mis-information picked up in advice from the media (for example, there are very few wealthy plumbers and work placements are so hard to find it is usually extremely difficult to start a plumbing apprenticeship).
Our career information and advice programme will provide your teenager with:-
- objective, detailed information about their personalities, abilities and interests (plus advice on the implications these factors have for future decisions regarding career choice and further or higher education studies)
- up to date higher education and career information / advice, helping your teenager take advantage of developing trends in UK education and jobs
- advice on UK jobs and apprenticeships for the teenager (if needed).
Please note, we never use standardised computer reports to interpret psychological test results or provide career information and advice. Many specialists in the assessment field believe - as we do - that computer-generated reports produce superficial and distorted impressions of the teenager seeking career information and advice.

The teenager (aged 17 and over), living anywhere in the UK. This programme suits young people who want better career information / advice to help them make the right choice of degree, higher education studies or jobs.
This intensive programme of career exploration, information and advice for the teenager also suits young people who have lost interest in their studies (eg "A" Levels) but who don't know whether to find a course better suited to them or search for one of the few attractive jobs for teenagers. Good career advice and information early in the exploration stage is often essential to prevent years of demoralising drift and lost career opportunities. |

You work one to one during your half-day career exploration / advice session, discussing your thinking concerning further and higher education, your career ambitions and personal circumstances in an unhurried but focused way. Your career advisor analyses and interprets all this information in a detailed but "user friendly" written report of career information and advice answering the particular concerns you raised with her.
Your career information and advice will provide you with:-
- insight into yourself and an exploration of your career-related strengths and weaknesses
- an exploration of the further and higher education and career choice decisions open to you and advice on those which offer the best "fit" with your individual strengths, ambitions and circumstances
- advice on effective study and revision techniques (if needed)
- brief advice on how to find and get jobs in the recommended career after you have completed your studies
